TOWN OF LONDONDERRY
INFORMATION REGARDING THE TOWN’S SOLID WASTE CONTRACT

The Town of Londonderry continues to provide information on the Town’s automated solid waste collection system, which will be phased in beginning July 1, 2009.  The system is designed to better manage the waist stream by encouraging recycling, extending the life of landfills in the State, and controlling solid waste expenses.

Information on the program is available from a number of resources:

• Frequently Asked Questions and Other Information are posted on the Town’s homepage at www.londonderrynh.org.

• More detailed information, including collection schedule, a list of recyclable materials, information on the Drop-Off Center and Waste Oil Collection, is available at the Environmental Division page at http://www.londonderrynh.org/publicworks/publicworks_005.htm

• A news program on this subject has been produced, and airs on Channel 20 on the Comcast System daily at 11AM, 6PM and 10PM.

The Town Council encourages all residents to review these information resources in preparation for the implementation of the new system.  Additional information and questions can be obtained from the Department of Public Works at Town Hall, or by contacting Doris Beatty, Environmental Engineer, at 432-1100 x139, or dbeatty@londonderrynh.org.

Thank you for digging out this information and providing links!

Just a few questions, which have come up chatting with my neighbors that did not make the  FAQ's, I'll post here to see if anyone might be able to provide answers.

Who owns the container in the event that it disappears from our property on trash day or any other day?
Does the trash contractor, town, or homeowner pay for the replacement?
If the homeowner or town pays, what is the replacement cost?  Are there competitive options to buy replacements or monopoly pricing by the contractor?

How much are the extra bags to purchase from town hall?  Is there a limit on number of bags?

Are there any options (other than dumpster rental) for bulk disposal from November to April?
Is the Auburn Waste Management transfer station available to residents from other towns?

Thanks in advance,
Bill P.

Bill, There was a problem with the LondonderryNH.org email server. Seems they got listed on a blacklist and all emails were being bounced by my ISP. The blacklisting has been removed, but the contact listed in the press release is now out of the office until June 10.

I've sent another email to following up on your questions.

Thank you for forwarding the questions from your website.  We incorporated them into our Automated Trash Collection FAQ’S (updated June 3, 2009) see attached.  Please note that some of the questions were repetitive and already answered in the existing document.  If you have any more questions please contact the Public Works Dept.

Bill the schedule has bumped out to July or August. DPW waited until the final Council Approval Monday before ordering containers.

This is the latest
